Medical simulation is an ideal application for WorLd Processor content. Content can be endowed with behaviors corresponding to the underlying substance of the object created (e.g. metal can be melted/bent/crinkled interactively, muscles stretch/contract positioning bones and effecting cartilage/ligaments). These substance modeled behaviors are data driven, so that, in contrast to existing systems, they do not require additional program code for each given effect; instead, each effect is produced interactively and in real-time from the data specific to the given substance. Objects react not only to the user, but also to each other in accordance with their substance modeled behaviors. The effect is to produce continuous, emergent behaviors that cannot be fully anticipated and are not programmed in advance. Dors system conditions are fully adaptive to underlying substances as well as to user prompts (e.g. the interaction of blood with a sudden open wound, heart attack, or the introduction of a toxin will effect changes in the blood substance that emerge from the new conditions). |
